It&#39;s also free and open-source and has been growing in popularity lately. Erlang is from the &quot;functional&quot; family of languages.<br />Maple is a &quot;general-purpose commercial computer algebra system&quot; (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_%28software%29" rel="nofollow">Mapple @ Wikipedia</a>). Apparently it &quot;incorporates a dynamically typed imperative-style programming language&quot;.<br />If you red the article I&#39;m doing something in my free time (i.e. Erlang being free is better than paying for Maple). I&#39;m also trying to have fun and experiment with functional style of programming (again Erlang is the better choice). Fixing it would be trivial anyway. <br />I actually wrote the article 1 year ago, but had it sitting in my archives for a while. Then I thought someone may find it useful and put it online last week. <br />The Google Code project also has the next 25 solutions and I tried putting some good comments in the source.
