Just in time for the Earth Day 2010 I got a solar water-heating system fitted in our house. I'll be writing more about what it does, how it works, post pictures and first impression in a week or two, but in the spirit of the day I'm writing a few sentences about my reasons.
Do I believe it makes any difference? Would it save the world? Stop global warming? Of course not.
Do I think that teaching my kids and their friends about sustainability and giving a personal example is important?
That showing my neighbors how solar technology is not a curiosity anymore, but an affordable alternative, is the best way to get their attention?
Do I feel good about supporting a business that's investing and creating jobs in a green-tech industry?
You bet!
So Happy Earth Day and maybe focus less on the today's problems and more on the future solutions.
